Some furries engage with the fandom in ways that include a romantic or sexual dimension. Others don't, at all. Both are valid, and both exist in the same community. The fandom itself doesn't have a single stance on the subject - it's made up of individuals, and individuals vary.

What the research actually shows

The International Anthropomorphic Research Project - an academic study of the furry community - has surveyed thousands of furries over more than a decade. Their findings consistently show that roughly 25 - 30% of furries say sexuality is a meaningful part of how they engage with the fandom. That means 70 - 75% say it isn't, or that it plays a minor role at most.

Why does the internet tell a different story?
